Welcome to the Christ and Grace Devotional Page

Welcome to the new Christ and Grace Devotional page, coming to you from your sisters and brothers in Christ at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Virginia.  In this blog we hope you will experience Christ, and grace, and a lot more!  Check in from time to time to find devotions, reflections, inspirations, and other spiritual musings.  The Vestry has been looking for a way for parishioners and others to interact with each other in a devotional setting, so this is one place to begin.  I especially invite your comments on anything that I, and others, post here.  Our hope is to keep up a running devotional conversation.  So here is my first thought...

✠  ✠  ✠

We are less than two days away from Thanksgiving Day, a day often observed more as a celebration of food than as a day of thankful prayer.  How might you, for that one day, shift the focus a bit more towards thankfulness and prayer, before, during, and after the big meal?

One thing we will do before the meal is attend the service of Holy Eucharist at Christ and Grace at 10:30 am Thanksgiving morning.  Remember, "Eucharist" is the Greek word for, you guessed it, "thanksgiving."  So we will first have one Holy Thanksgiving shared meal of Holy Communion at church, before going back to our home for our family Thanksgiving meal.  And we will try to keep much of the same soulful approach in the second meal as in the first.

  1. Bill, I think this has the potential to be a wonderful ministry for the church. Looking forward to some wonderful conversation around the posts.
