On the Giving End of Thanksgiving

Recall one of the traditional images from Thanksgiving, as in this painting. Remember that most, if not all, of the food was provided by the Native Americans, as the Europeans had yet to learn how or what to hunt and farm in these unfamiliar surroundings. The Europeans were on the receiving end and the Native Americans on the giving end of Thanksgiving.

Who gives and who receives in your family's Thanksgiving meal and celebration? Will some be expected to do all of the preparation and clean-up, while others sit back and relax? How might all of you divide the work more equally, and have all share in both the giving and the receiving?

Are there people you know who won't have a family celebration to enjoy, who may not be expecting to receive anything at all? There's still time to graciously extend them an invitation. Make sure that you and your family are on the giving end of Thanksgiving.
